Vinyl frenzy on Record Store Day

RSD Newport

Tomorrow’s the day when the remaining record shops of the western world will be overflowing with new vinyl releases put out to celebrate their continued existence. There are hundreds of special releases on 7, 10 and 12inch vinyl to pick up, some are re-releases others rare recordings that have not previously been pressed, see the Captain Beefheart below, and others are contemporary acts new to vinyl. Side By Side is an interesting approach which consists of a classic tune being played by the original act and a modern day one, for instance Deep Purple and Type-O Negative’s versions of Highway Star.

As far as I can tell all the 10 and 12inch releases are albums.

This is the tip of the iceberg and it would be a pretty impressive record store that had all of them in stock tomorrow but it’s a good day to be shopping.
