Dynaudio has launched the latest addition to its Excite series, the Excite X14A. This active compact loudspeaker utilizes a bi-amped configuration of a 50 watt digital amplifier to power the bass/midrange driver and a second 50 watt digital amplifier on the tweeter. Dynaudio has integrated these power amp modules with DSP that’s designed to complement the high quality soft dome tweeter and MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) long-throw woofer. A rear-ported bass-reflex cabinet further improves bass performance.
The Excite X14A features three equalizer switches that allow fine-tuning of the sound, for example when placing the speaker near a wall, corner, or in a free standing position. The bass, midrange and treble can all be individually adjusted in three levels. The high-pass filter (60 or 80 Hz) allows the option to combine the Excite X14A with a subwoofer. With the high pass filter engaged, lower bass frequencies will be filtered out to be covered by a dedicated sub such as the Dynaudio Sub 250 II. The Excite X14A cost £1,350 per pair.
