This Japanese phono stage is being brought to the UK by Pure Sound but appears to have no tubes. Pure Sound is synonymous with tube amps so this must be a special piece of kit. It’s an MM/MC stage that uses an LCR network for RIAA equalisation, an approach that works well with tube circuits and can be seen in a few other high end phono stages. This implementation has Lundahl filter coils in the EQ circuit.
The VIDA has a substantial mute switch, mono/stereo switch, cartridge de-gaussing facility and optional subsonic filter. It’s a DC (direct coupled) circuit without capacitors in the signal path and has a separate power supply to keep noise at bay. Price is £2,699.
