Chord Co Shawline Stream

The Chord Company has launched the Shawline streaming cable a highly versatile digital interconnect designed to bring the benefits of Chord’s cable expertise to a wide range of music streaming systems. The new cable benefits from design cues and construction techniques developed for the company’s flagship ChordMusic and high-end Signature Super ARAY streaming cables, whilst retaining a more accessible price. Chord Co uses the term streaming rather than Ethernet because while this cable performs an Ethernet function within a streaming audio network it is not technically Ethernet (send any questions to the usual address).

The Shawline streaming cable features four pairs of high-speed silver-plated copper conductors in conjunction with low-loss FEP insulation. Each conductor pair is individually screened with a Mylar foil and a further foil-and-braid outer shielding system gives the cable additional protection from the RF interference generated by everyday household devices.

Further features include The Chord Company’s precision-made over-moulded shielded-Zinc-hybrid RJ45 plugs which have chrome-plated outer casings and benefit from 24ct gold-plated pins for enhanced signal transfer. Additionally, non-compression strain-relief avoids the potential for harm caused by squeezing the conductors at the terminations.

The Shawline streaming cable is available in two formats: pre-assembled standard lengths (0.75m, 1.5m, 3m and 5m), terminated with The Chord Company’s over-moulded RJ45 plugs, plus custom lengths for runs over 5m (enabling precise lengths to be specified). The cable is offered with a standard two-year warranty, upgradable to five years. Shawline streaming cable is available now: 0.75m £220; 1.5m £250; 3m £300 and 5m £400.
