Clearaudio’s latest turntable is the Performance DC which integrates a high-torque, “smooth and quiet” DC motor into the chassis. The motor is similar to that used in Clearaudio’s Ovation and Innovation series turntables and provides “superb” speed stability and “very satisfying” ease-of use with start, stop and speed selection controlled by four buttons.
A new 40mm thick black POM (polyoxymethylene) platter rests on Clearaudio’s patented ceramic magnetic bearing (CMB) which, by using a magnetic field to effectively float the bearing on air, reduces friction by avoiding any point of load.
Complimenting the Performance DC turntable is the new Clearaudio Clarify tonearm which has a woven carbon fibre arm tube and a magnetic bearing. The Clarify tonearm is fully adjustable for VTA, azimuth, magnetically applied anti-skating as well as cartridge tracking weight by virtue of micrometer-style counterweight adjustment.
Completing the package is the Clearaudio Virtuoso v2 MM cartridge with a resonance-optimized ebony body, matched coils and high-efficiency magnets.
UK distribution is by Sound Fowndations and the price for the Clearaudio Performance DC package is £2,495.
