The Moon 110LP v2 is a highly adjustable and accessibly priced (£399) new phono preamplifier from a Canadian company with a good reputation in audio electronics. With four impedance settings for moving coil cartridges and as many capacitance options for MMs it looks capable of matching most ‘needles’ on the market.
Gain is likewise adjustable with five levels selectable using dip switches on the under side of the case. Unusuall you can also choose between RIAA and IEC equalisation but who uses the latter is anyone’s guess. It has an external slimline 24V power supply and is designed for use with any turntable that doesn’t have onboard amplification, which is just about all of the record players that you would want to put your precious vinyl on. Distribution in the UK is via Renaissance Audio and the 110LP v2 will be available from next month onwards.
