Musical Fidelity M5xi & M6xi integrated amplifiers
Musical Fidelity proudly announces the launch of the M5xi and M6xi (above) integrated amplifiers, the latest evolution in its acclaimed M-Series range of hi-fi electronics. Building on the success of their respective predecessors, each model combines high-end engineering with modern connectivity, delivering exceptional power, precision, and musical transparency.
Designed to elevate the performance of hi-fi systems at different price points, both the M5xi and M6xi integrated amplifiers eschew built-in streaming technology, focusing instead on the best engineering and sound performance possible. In an age where streaming technology changes regularly, Musical Fidelity aims to deliver an amplifier offering that can keep owners happy for years to come.
M5xi and M6xi features
Advanced amplifier technologies, derived from Musical Fidelity’s legendary Titan amplifier.
Low-distortion Darlington output stages.
160W (M5xi) / 220W (M6xi) per-channel output into 8 Ohms.
Optical, coaxial and HDMI inputs for extensive system building possibilities.
USB-C DAC input with support up-to 24-bit / 192kHz.
RS232 input for custom install environments.
Isolated linear 5V/2A USB A power output for discretely adding modern streamers.
Sophisticated internal layout isolates sensitive electronics from noise and interference.
Analogue power supplies used for reduced high-frequency noise and EMC issues.
New system remote control included.
Solid M-Series construction, available with Silver or Black faceplate. M5xi: ÂŁ2,099.00 (SRP),M6xi: ÂŁ2,699.00 (SRP). The Musical Fidelity M5xi and M6xi are shipping in the UK in limited quantities during May 2026.
The M5xi (above) is a true high-end amplifier, built to combine modern wired connectivity with class-leading sound quality. The advanced technology on offer is bettered only by the higher-power M6xi integrated amplifier.
The M5xi is built around a completely new amplifier topology, derived from the legendary Musical Fidelity Titan power amplifier. Configured internally as two independent mono power amps, with a separate pre-amp, the model employs a low-distortion Darlington output stage. By using premium components throughout the signal path, this design ensures exceptional stability, authority and musical control up-to 160W per-channel (240W at 4?).
In fact, great attention has been given to the entire internal layout. The main transformer and power supply PCB are now encapsulated within a metal enclosure, further reducing electromagnetic interference inside the chassis. Similarly, the carefully optimised PCB board design minimises circuit imbalances that would otherwise require corrective feedback, allowing the amplifier to operate more naturally and transparently. During operation, all power supplies remain purely analogue, reducing high-frequency noise and minimising EMC-related interference. The result is a cleaner signal path and improved overall sonic purity.
The preamplifier stage of the M5xi is fully analogue, to maintain signal integrity. Its low-noise circuit design supports a wide dynamic range, meaning that whether you’re listening quietly or at full scale, micro-details and harmonic accuracy remain the same. The Burr-Brown stepped attenuator used for the volume control guarantees precise channel matching and a stable soundstage throughout the volume curve.
The M5xi features a high-quality MM/MC phono stage with enhanced internal isolation and shielding. There are also separate digital boards used internally to support the expanded connectivity on offer. With HDMI eARC, optical, coaxial and USB-C digital inputs available, alongside four RCA line inputs, a Home Theatre Bypass input, a line output and a pre output, there’s very little this amplifier cannot support. The additional RS232 input means even sophisticated custom install systems are easy to work with, and the 5V/2A USB A power output is available for powering compact streamers you may wish to connect to your system.
The M5xi is a sophisticated electrical device, housed in a reassuringly heavy chassis. Its advanced design delivers a truly premium sonic performance, but it remains effortlessly simple to operate. Either via the clearly labelled and tactile controls on the front panel, or using the new M-Series system remote, the M5xi is a joy to own and use.
M6xi in detail
The M6xi is the latest model to hold Musical Fidelity‘s famous “M6” moniker. Since the original model was released, the M6 name has always been associated with exceptional sound quality and reliability in the premium price arena. Updated with a range of modern connectivity, the M6xi lives up to its name in every way.
