Monitor Audio Group partners with Museum of Youth Culture
Monitor Audio Group is thrilled to announce an exclusive partnership with the Museum of Youth Culture, opening to the public on Saturday 20th June, in Camden, London. The museum will become the world’s first permanent institution dedicated to preserving and celebrating youth culture as a defining force in modern history.
On the 6500sq ft St Pancras Campus site, spread across four distinct spaces, visitors can explore photography, fashion, music, objects, ephemera and personal stories that document how generations of young people have shaped society through creativity, style, activism and self-expression.
Together, Monitor Audio Group and the Museum of Youth Culture explore how music and sound have influenced youth identity and expression, with a special emphasis on British and global music scenes from the post-war era to the present day.
Alongside its permanent collection, the museum will host a year-round programme of workshops, talks, exhibitions, presentations and special events, while continuing its work with young people through dedicated education and community initiatives. One of the museum’s four spaces has been co-designed with young people currently working with the organisation, ensuring contemporary youth voices remain at the heart of the museum experience.
The museum has collaborated with a number of artists and cultural figures whose work is deeply connected to the communities represented throughout the collection. Iconic illustrator Mark Wigan has created bespoke murals inspired by decades of British youth culture, while acclaimed audiovisual artist and Notting Hill Carnival Chairperson Linett Kamala has designed a custom-built sound system installation, featuring Monitor Audio’s THX certified ultra, Cinergy Series for the main gallery, drawing on the traditions of sound system culture and community gathering. Monitor Audio Group collaborated with Linett Kamal on the creation of her custom rig that forms a central part of the visitor experience throughout the museum.
Monitor Audio Group carefully selected speakers from its award-winning Architectural Series portfolio to complement the museum’s urban, industrial aesthetic. Climate Series 3G CL2 M speakers seamlessly blend throughout the space, while the powerful THX Ultra Certified, Cinergy Series delivers impactful, large-scale audio in areas where visuals and sound work together to tell the story of youth culture. Across the museum, MAG’s cutting-edge Installation Amplifiers 2G and streaming amplifiers deliver the flexibility to zone audio for different curated exhibitions, ensuring each space has its own unique atmosphere, where sound is not just an accompaniment, it is an integral part of the storytelling, enriching the visitor experience and helping the Museum of Youth Culture truly resonate with its visitors.
The partnership between Monitor Audio Group and the Museum of Youth Culture reflects both organisations’ dedication to the idea that sound and music are not just entertainment, they’re integral to our shared cultural heritage.
“We’re excited to partner with the Museum of Youth Culture to bring a new dimension of sound to their incredible collections,” said Michael Johnson, Global Marketing Director of Monitor Audio Group. “Our commitment to quality audio aligns perfectly with the museum’s mission to preserve and celebrate youth culture. This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to connect with music lovers of all ages and provide a rich, authentic listening experience that brings the stories and exhibits of youth culture to life.”
Jon Swinstead, Founder of The Museum of Youth Culture states, “Monitor Audio has transformed how visitors can experience our exhibitions. Now they don’t just see youth culture, they can hear and feel it. We aren’t stuffy, this is a museum with a small ‘m’. We’re creating spaces that tell stories of who we are. Youth culture drives innovation, challenges norms and creates communities. It’s why MOYC matters, and why we want everyone to be part of it.”
