April 11th saw the arrival of the Bespoked Handmade bike show in the Olympic velodrome, London. Here were gathered bike builders old and young with a selection of exquisitely executed machines to tempt the likes of me. I ride a carbon fibre mountain bike but have a penchant for a finely crafted steel frame, if not for riding then for putting on the wall. The following are a few of the more attractive examples that were on display.
Mercer Bikes, South Africa
Feather Cycles, Yorkshire
Chas Roberts and his 4.7kg steel frame, collapsible bike
Cherubim, Japan
Something for the polar explorer
Swarf braves the controversial Cannondale Lefty fork
Seren's Dust & Bones gravel road racer
Lovely bit of work from Strawberry Bicycle, Oregon
Maximum bling on the bamboo Veloboo
Minimum tyre clearance from Sword
Vintage proof that Islabikes weren't always for kids
Paris Tour de France retro bike made by Condor Cycles
