Living Being IV (Time Reflections) approaches levels of ‘cuteness’ hitherto not seen or heard on a jazz album. It is an energetic, creative, gently exploding and addictive soundtrack that will usher smiles and relaxation at a time that is not known for bringing either all too often.
The album contains a mixture of jazz, European folk, progressive rock, and even a nod to reggae. Brits will rejoice when listening to the homage to some very famous creations by Queen, Portishead and The Beatles that appear here, serving as a nostalgic icing on a very enticing musical cake.
The crew that created this supremely fine gentle riot is led by Vincent Peirani (accordion), joined by the mighty able and equally melodious Emile Parisien (soprano sax), Julien Herne (bass), Tony Paeleman (piano, keyboards, Fender Rhodes) and Yoann Serra (drums). Their persistently gentle melodious energies are a treat. This album will not be listened to once, it will be a long term source of musical pleasure for those that appreciate the vibe.
But just when you thought that the musical goodness is it, there’s more pleasure in store in the guise of recording quality that adds yet the proverbial cherry atop the icing on an already rich cake. The download provided by ACT records is of a rare 88.2/24 variety, accurate, nearly analogue in nature and etched across the plane of the speakers in very fine fashion. Living Being IV (Time Reflections) is a highly recommended aural feast that should be used as a panacea of the most effective type against all and any malady.
