Tannoy Westminster Royal speakers on dem
Tannoy, the fifth-oldest hi-fi company in the world, is offering audiophiles the rare chance to experience its flagship model, the £55,000 Westminster Royal at Leeds-based retailer DNA Audio. The exclusive arrangement provides a unique chance to experience the audio performance of Tannoy’s reference loudspeaker.
As Tannoy approaches its centenary in 2026, the opportunity underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and experiential audio, exemplified by the Westminster Royal from the esteemed Prestige Gold Reference series.
Legendary amongst audiophiles, the Westminster Royal is a two-way, horn-loaded loudspeaker incorporating a 15-inch iteration of Tannoy’s proprietary Dual Concentric drive unit. The design offers a high sensitivity of 99 dB, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers, and a power handling capability of 700 watts for optimal performance in a diverse range of acoustic environments.
Key elements of the Dual Concentric array include Tannoy’s PepperPot WaveGuide, Alnico magnets, and aluminium-magnesium alloy diaphragms with Mylar surround compression drivers, engineered for precise acoustic reproduction.
The high-density 530-litre birch ply cabinet features comprehensive internal bracing employing DMT (Differential Materials Technology) to effectively couple the drivers to the enclosure. The exterior is finished with a refined oiled walnut veneer and complemented by hand-selected burr walnut inlays.
Located in the north west outskirts of Leeds in the beautiful village of Otley, DNA Audio offers a superb environment for critical listening, featuring premium electronics from manufacturers such as Linn, Naim and Chord Electronics, alongside a curated selection of components suitable for the Tannoy flagship, including Sugden, Esoteric and Burmester.
Music lovers are invited to contact DNA Audio to schedule an audition of the Westminster Royal.
