Aavik M-880: 70 kilos of extreme Class A

A reference-class power amplifier engineered to control the most demanding loudspeakers.

Audio Group Denmark announces the launch of the Aavik M-880, a reference mono power amplifier developed to meet the highest demands of modern loudspeaker systems. Designed and handcrafted in Denmark, the M-880 represents the most advanced and uncompromising execution of Aavik’s amplification philosophy to date.

The M-880 was developed as a direct response to the performance requirements of the Børresen M8 Gold Signature loudspeaker. As loudspeaker technology progressed to new levels of speed, resolution, and scale, conventional stereo amplifier architec- tures proved insufficient. Absolute control, power stability, and complete channel independence became essential.

The result is a true mono amplifier engineered as part of a complete system, where amplification and loudspeaker performance are conceived as one coherent whole rather than as separate components.

The M-880 is the result of pursuing absolute performance without compromise, while breaking visual conventions in the unmistakable style that only Flemming can create. For the M8 loudspeakers, nothing less would suffice — and I’m proud of what we achieved — Michael Børresen,Co-founder & CTO, Audio Group Denmark.

A reimagined Class A amplification stage

The Aavik M-880 is not a conventional Class A amplifier. Its output stage maintains a bias constantly 0.63 V above the required current, ensuring true Class A operation at all times—independent of load or signal dynamics.

This precisely controlled bias preserves the purity, linearity, and harmonic integrity of Class A operation while allowing the amplifier to run at significantly lower temperatures than traditional designs, improving long-term stability and reliability without compromising sonic performance.

Each Aavik M-880 mono amplifier delivers 400 W into 8 Ω, 800 W into 4 Ω, and approximately 1,300 W into 2 Ω. Its exceptionally low output impedance delivers a damping factor exceeding 1,000 into 8 Ω.

Rather than a traditional linear supply, the M-880 employs four high-speed, low- noise switching power supplies, each rated at 500 W / 20 A—twice the number used per channel in the P-880.

Supported by a 266 mF local energy storage bank capable of storing up to 1,050 J and delivering peak currents of up to 130 A, the power system adapts dynamically to musical demand while maintaining a vanishingly low noise floor and complete dynamic freedom.

Ultra-short current paths and noise suppression

Reduced power dissipation enables the use of locally placed capacitor banks, with each output transistor pair supported by its own dedicated energy storage

positioned directly adjacent to the devices. This results in exceptionally short current paths, reduced noise, and improved efficiency.

Noise rejection is addressed system-wide through proprietary Aavik and Ansuz technologies, including Active Tesla Coils (ATC), Active Square Tesla Coils (AST), third-generation Analog Dither Technology (ADT), and Anti-Aerial Resonance Coils (AARC) applied to internal wiring.

Mechanical grounding and enclosure design

Each M-880 is supplied with four Ansuz Darkz Z3w resonance control devices, provid- ing effective mechanical isolation directly out of the box.

The enclosure—developed by Flemming Erik Rasmussen in close collaboration with Michael Børresen—follows a strict form-follows-function philosophy. Its multi-layer construction features a wood-based laminate between a titanium base plate and an upper stainless-steel plate, topped by a fully copper internal chamber, delivering controlled resonance behavior alongside exceptional EMI/RFI shielding.

Each Aavik M-880 mono amplifier is handcrafted at Audio Group Denmark’s facility in Aalborg, Denmark, using advanced CNC machining, cryogenic processing, and meticulous hand assembly. Every unit undergoes extensive electrical verification and final listening comparison against a reference before shipment.

With the M-880, Aavik introduces its most capable and authoritative power amplifier to date—a mono design defined by absolute channel independence, power stability, and system-level coherence. It establishes a new reference for amplification within the Aavik portfolio and reflects the culmination of years of focused research across the Audio Group Denmark ecosystem.

The Aavik M-880 MSRP is €100.000/$115,000 a piece.
