Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 headphones & AT33x Series cartridges
Audio-Technica proudly introduces the ATH-ADX7000 True Open-Air headphones, the new flagship of the brand’s acclaimed ADX line. Designed and constructed in Japan, the ATH-ADX7000 combines over 60 years of transducer expertise with Audio-Technica’s proprietary High-Concentricity X (Transfer) Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) technology. This innovative driver manufacturing process ensures exceptional precision from design through final integration, setting a new standard in pure and natural sound reproduction.
Audio-Technica’s True Open-Air Audio approach precisely controls airflow and relies solely on diaphragm movement to reproduce audio. Unlike closed-back or semi-open headphones, the ADX7000’s open design allows air to move freely through the housing, reducing internal pressure and resonance for a clear, natural, fatigue-free listening experience – even during extended sessions.
Custom drivers engineered for open-air performance reproduce the full frequency range – including deep bass usually reserved for closed-back models – without added coloration, delivering authentic, spacious sound that draws listeners closer to the source.
HXDT technology
At the heart of the ATH-ADX7000 is Audio-Technica’s ground-breaking HXDT technology which uses a highly controlled moulding and alignment method to ensure every diaphragm, baffle plate, magnet, and voice coil is perfectly concentric, with tolerances tightened to ±0.02 mm – nearly ten times more precise than conventional designs.
This ultra-precise alignment enables the diaphragm to move freely and consistently, producing faster transients, improved microdetail, and cleaner, more natural sound. By optimising energy transfer from the magnet through the voice coil to the diaphragm, HXDT delivers highly accurate, dynamic, and detailed sonic performance.
The driver’s improved voice coil, with an increased 490-ohm impedance, enhances mechanical force without adding weight, resulting in more defined low frequencies, expanded dynamic range, and exceptional clarity across the full spectrum. Every component’s precise alignment isn’t just a technical achievement – it’s central to the ADX7000’s sonic identity, unlocking the full potential of true open-air headphones.
The Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 be available worldwide from 23rd of October 2025 and will retail for £3,000 / €3.499. The storage case AT-HPC3, which is customisable to other headphones as well, will be available for a retail price of £75 / €85.
AT33x Series
Audio-Technica proudly introduces the AT33x Series, the brand’s first major update to its phono cartridge line since 2014. Building on decades of expertise in cartridge engineering, the new Moving Coil series includes five models. AT33xMLB, AT33xMLD, and AT33xEN stereo cartridges, and AT33xMono/I and AT33xMono/II monaural cartridges.
Underscoring Audio-Technica’s leadership in advanced phono cartridge production, this launch represents a significant step forward through the introduction of carefully refined materials, including the brand’s first use of die-cast zinc. With its exceptional density and rigidity, die-cast zinc construction helps minimise unwanted vibrations and delivers a richer, more articulate performance, particularly across the mid- and low-frequency ranges.
Another debut within the AT33x Series is a newly developed suspension mechanism, designed with slightly lower dynamic compliance than conventional cartridges. This innovation expands setup flexibility and tonearm compatibility.
Each AT33x Series cartridge is crafted in Japan and hand-finished by skilled artisans. Precision machining and meticulous adjustment, perfected by decades of expertise, result in a standard of quality and reliability unattainable through automation alone. This dedication reflects the enduring spirit of Japanese craftsmanship that continues to define Audio-Technica.
Stereo cartridges
AT33xEN: A solid elliptical nude stylus model that combines a rich sound field with stable control and allows for highly accurate playback over a wide bandwidth.
AT33xMLD: A microlinear stylus model which blends refined expressiveness and power.
AT33xMLB: The flagship microlinear model boasts nimble response and exceptional wide bandwidth control. Delivering delicate and rich expressions through the enhancement of a solid boron-tapered cantilever and lightweight vibration system.
Mono cartridges
AT33xMono/I: A high-performance model that conveys the full appeal of monaural vinyl.
AT33xMono/II: A monaural model that delivers the immersive warm sound. The only model in the AT33x Series to use a samarium cobalt magnet and pure iron yoke. This provides supple, stable, and richly textured playback.
The AT33x Series is presented in 100% plastic-free packaging, made entirely from recyclable paper materials. Designed to reduce environmental impact at the end of its lifecycle, the packaging underscores Audio-Technica’s focus on environmentally responsible innovation.
The Audio-Technica AT-33x Series will be available from 23rd of October 2025 at a starting retail price of €599/£519 GBP. The Mono models start at a retail price of €399/£349.
