Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2023 preview

Bristol is back, after a two year COVID induced sabbatical the UK’s biggest hi-fi exhibition is going to happen. You can see an exhibitor list here but the following brands will be among those with some lovely stuff to see and hear at the Marriott City Centre for three days from February 24th. We will be there on Friday and Saturday so feel free to say hello.

MartinLogan Motion B10 loudspeaker

PMC Distribution will be showing a new range from MartinLogan that is said to have a Europe/UK voicing. The Motion and Motion XT series include floor standing, standmount and home cinema models with prices starting at £1,395 for the B1 (above) . What they will say is that the AVM UK CS5.3 streamer/DAC/CD player will be making its debut at Bristol.

Chord will have Mojo 2 and Hugo 2 DAC and headphone amps, the Ultima-technology Anni desktop integrated amplifier, plus the Qutest DAC (Bristol Suite, stands five and six). The main demonstration system, in the SS Great Britain 1 room, will showcase the recently introduced Ultima Pre 3 preamp (above). CAD will be playing its CAT streamer, 1543 II DAC and new USB cables (below) alongside the latest versions of its Ground Control products.

Sennheiser will have the new HD 660S2 successor to one of its most popular headphones on dem alongside IE 200 wired in-ear phones. Pro-ject are showing the Colourful Audio System which should brighten things up and Wilson benesch will have their A.C.T. 3zero loudspeakers (below) from the new Fibonacci series of reference models.

Rogers are going for a retro vibe with LS3/5A loudspeakers coupled to an E20a valve amplifier with 15 Ohm output taps dedicated to these speakers. Vivid Audio will be demonstrating one of our favourite speakers, the Kaya S12 standmount is a mini marvel of transparency and musicality.

The Pink Triangle brand will be making a comeback after 30 plus years with the Blue Danube turntable which maker the Funk Firm are describing as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, not that you often see blue sheep.

Naim New Classic main

Chord Company also have announcements to make but are keeping quiet so far, suffice to say that owner’s of Naim’s new classic series components will be pleasantly surprised. Those who have yet to hear the new classic series (above) should head over to the Naim room and have a listen, it will be worth seeking out.

Karma AV promise “jaw-dropping dynamics” from Primare SPA25 Prisma AV amp with a System Audio/SVS 7.2.2 system of SA saxo LCR and super-slim saxo 16 and saxo 6 satellites, underpinned by SVS 3000 Micro subs, all connected with In-akustik cables.

Black Rhodium founder Graham Nalty will have his new book on cable design and the company is having a draw to win a £5,000 set of their speaker cables.

AE1 Active Cherry szd

Acoustic Energy will be partnered with Rega and Bluesound to demonstrate loudspeakers  including the compact AE100², the flagship AE520 floor-stander and iconic AE1 Active (above). They will be joined by David Salz, President and designer of Wireworld USA who will be officially re-launching the cable brand in the UK
