Cambridge Audio’s Minx Xi is a new wi-fi receiver with the ability to stream from wired, wireless and Bluetooth sources. It can wirelessly play music stored on any UPnP server, NAS drive or computer. It also provides access to net radio as well as “many” streaming services including BBC iPlayer Radio, Pandora and Rhapsody. Minx Xi sports a “clear and intuitive display” and can be controlled with the free Stream Magic app available for Apple and Android devices.
You can hook up set-top boxes and games consoles to the digital inputs, plug in local media to two USB inputs, or connect devices to three analogue sockets. The USB sockets will also charge phones and tablets and, in addition, you can add a subwoofer for a 2.1 system. According to the spiel: “Minx Xi includes true audiophile quality components that are so rarely found in lifestyle systems.” Components include a 40 watt Class AB amplifier, an oversized toroidal power supply and a Wolfson WM8728 24-bit/96kHz digital-analogue converter. Minx Xi is available in gloss white and black finishes at will retail for £600.
