Cambridge Audio is the recipient of two Red Dot Design Awards 2022, for its Evo all-in-one system and Melomania 1+ true wireless headphones. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest design competitions worldwide and selects the best products, brands, communication works and design concepts of every year.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, said: “In this year of the competition, I have been particularly struck by the exceptional creativity shown by the award-winning products. It is really impressive and praiseworthy that there are still designs out there that can surprise us with their form and functionality. This makes it clear that design cannot be restricted or brought to a standstill by unfavourable circumstances. On the contrary: more and more new ideas and creations emerge, and futuristic techniques are developed. The fact that the quality of these products equals their level of innovation makes them well-deserved winners in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022.”

Designed in Cambridge Audio’s London studio, Evo’s minimal aesthetic was the focus of lead designer Ged Martin, who took inspiration from the P40, Cambridge Audio’s first-ever amplifier from 1968, Evo has walnut wood side panels which can be switched out for textured black panels made from Richlite sustainable material.

Ged says: “I’m so pleased. Winning a Red Dot is a really proud moment for me. I’m delighted at the reception that Evo has had in its first year from hi-fi listeners around the world as well as the Red Dot judging panel.”

The Melomania 1+ true wireless headphones have Graphene-enhanced drivers  and super lightweight bullet-shaped earbuds that eliminate pressure points for a comfortable fit that effectively minimises background noise and optimises audio quality.

James Johnson-Flint, CEO of Cambridge Audio, says of Melomania 1+: “This Red Dot Award is warmly received and brings with it thrilling recognition of the product’s iconic design.”
