KEF is to donate a pair of MUONs, its £140,000 statement loudspeaker, to ‘Time For Design’, a benefit auction in support of the brand new Design Museum in West London. The Design Museum, currently located in Shad Thames, will close its doors on 30th June and reopen in November 2016 at new premises in High Street Kensington. To help fund this large-scale project, the Design Museum has teamed up with global auction house, Phillips, to create a benefit auction consisting of design classics and vibrant contemporary talent. The auction will take place on 28th April, at 30 Berkeley Square. An exhibition of the soon-to-be-auctioned design masterpieces will be available for public viewing from the 22nd April.
The KEF MUON was the first collaboration between KEF and industrial designer Ross Lovegrove who worked meticulously with KEF’s acoustics engineers to create super-formed aluminium chassis. This exquisitely curved, sculptural piece of precision engineering was designed to find the perfect harmony between form and function in a luxury loudspeaker.
