Custom Design Kinetik Sound KS4 speakers
It was back in 2015 when we first had the inspiration to manufacture a totally rigid, inert speaker cabinet made from steel. But it wasn’t until the Munich High End Show in 2022 when we managed to produce a prototype speaker cabinet after talking to several speaker designers at the show.
Fast forward to May 2026 and Custom Design are now ready to launch the innovative, industry changing Intra Specific Isolated Speaker Cabinets. They have extremely thin 6mm walls and an extremely high 19.5kg mass with drivers fitted.Â
The Kinetik Sound KS4 speakers were launched at the North West Audio Show 2026, no one outside of Newcastle Upon Tyne had ever seen or listened to them before. The reaction of all our visitors at the show was nothing short of astonishing. No one could believe firstly they were manufactured from 6mm steel, secondly the clarity and realism.
The advantage of the KS4 speakers’s steel cabinet over a wood or MDF cabinet is immediate. Half the wall thickness required for rigidity and strength in comparison. This provides an amazing high frequency response and midrange. The high mass feature influences the bass frequency more, which is why one of the most frequent questions at the show was “where is the subwoofer?” Considering the dimensions of the cabinet 200mm wide x 226mm depth x 326mm high visitors simply could not believe the performance from such a small speaker.
The first impression most visitors expressed was the scale of the staging from KS4s, which are able to reproduce clarity, detail and separation that visitors found difficult to believe. Harmonics and percussion all had a position on the stage, vocals came to life with an energy of live music, something only the KS4s can produce from such a small cabinet. But best of all was a bass frequency response which not only had timing, precision and depth, it had impact, it just sounded so lifelike and real.
The KS4 speakers have a unique ability to create a synergy with the listener according to our visitors at the show. Most of which left the room with a smile on their face after listening to music they thoroughly enjoyed and love. Which is why the Kinetik Sound KS4 speakers received a best sound visitors choice token at their very first show.
