Linn today announces the release of their first-ever plinth performance upgrade for Sondek LP12. First debuted in the limited edition, 50th anniversary Sondek LP12-50, Bedrok is formed of orthogonal layers of beech placed under extreme pressure and heat to create an entirely new, solid and massive material. This engineered, ultra-dense wood has negligible resonance and offers a superior isolating housing for the Sondek LP12 mechanism.

The LP12 plinth affects everything. Everything is mounted to it, and every component depends on the combination of its stability, acoustic isolation and resonance characteristics. With more than double the density of a standard wooden LP12 plinth, Bedrok is uniformly solid. With it, each component the plinth houses performs better. It’s a holistic upgrade which improves every aspect of LP12—more pace, tighter bass, greater insight and enjoyment.

Availability and pricing

Bedrok is available in a single, distinctive finish; its constituent natural beechwood layers are enhanced and protected with an oil coat. Due to the scarcity of material and complexity of manufacture, this flagship, Klimax-level plinth upgrade will be available in limited quantities from today onwards. Bedrok (plinth only) £8,750 Sondek, LP12 Bedrok (complete turntable mechanics + plinth) £10,140.
