Sound Design Distribution is delighted to welcome Lumin’s P1 player/preamp to the UK. “Precision engineered to deliver an elite level of signal processing and versatility to the heart of every 2-channel audio playback system, the P1 (£8,495) is Lumin’s most versatile design to date.”

The P1 is a streamer, a DAC, a preamplifier in a design that’s dual-mono from input to output and has dual Femto re-clocking oscillators, dual ES9028PRO SABRE DACs, 32-bit precision volume control with LEEDH processing and a fully-balanced analogue output stage (also employed by the flagship Lumin X1 player), fed by a new dual-toroidal linear power supply.

Nine digital/analogue inputs include an XMOS USB (native DSD512 and PCM384), and Toslink, SPDIF (RCA) and AES inputs (192kHz 24bit). Three HDMI 2.0 inputs support 2.0 PCM audio decoding and the passthrough of HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS via an ARC compatible HDMI output. Balanced XLR and coaxial RCA input/outputs handle analogue signals. PCM and DSD upsampling is available for any digital input, while a dual-network interface manages switching between the P1’s Ethernet and SFP fibre ports.

Control is available from the Lumin app or via a new Roon-ready handheld remote, precision-made in Austria from acrylic and zinc. The new infrared receiver built into the Lumin P1 is compatible with universal remote controls, phones, and automation systems.
