Musical Fidelity M6xTT turntable and arm

With the introduction of the M8xTT in 2023, Musical Fidelity re-entered the high-end turntable space with a new model for the first time since 2002. The multi-plinth, split-platter construction made quite a statement thanks to its bold looks and premium design concept. Today, Musical Fidelity are releasing a new model, directly inspired by the M8xTT, at a more affordable price point.

The M6xTT (SRP £4,799) reduces the M8xTT design into a more compact form, making it easier to accommodate into most listening spaces.

Musical Fidelity M6xTT

M6xTT in detail

The M6xTT brings Musical Fidelity’s high-end turntable concept to more music lovers than ever before. Its visually striking multi-acrylic-plinth structure is accented by a high-mass aluminium platter and a new 9” tonearm.

The M6xTT’s dual-layer plinth is made of non-resonant acrylic, mounted on four height-adjustable magnetic feet with Teflon spacers between the layers. The top layer supports the main bearing spindle and the tonearm mount for complete isolation from the stand-alone drive motor, which rests on the bottom plinth, isolated from the structure by a special foam material. The result is a turntable that effectively eliminates the transfer of resonances from the surrounding environment and from within itself.

The drive motor allows for push-button changes between 33 and 45rpm speeds, and houses within its structure a sophisticated DC-driven AC generator. This construction means that the frequency and voltage feed for the motor are generated from scratch within the motor assembly, rather than being reliant on the external power supply.

The motor is connected to the heavy (6.6kg) TPE-damped aluminium main platter by a one-piece drive belt without any glued joints. The high mass and premium drive system results in a turntable that is capable of exceptional rotational stability.

The turntable is supported by four magnetic heavyweight feet, made from aluminium and damped with TPE. Their unique assembly means they can support both acrylic layers, and that they can also be height-adjusted to create a perfectly level platform.

The M6xTT’s new 9” tonearm is an ultra-low resonance design with a conical aluminium tonearm tube and a transparent acrylic bearing ring. The arm is fully adjustable for azimuth and VTA settings, and comes equipped with two TPE-damped counterweights to support a wide range of cartridges. The tonearm is connected to a phono stage by a standard 5P DIN cable, allowing for easy cable upgrades in the future.

The M6xTT brings high-end record player design to a new price point. Inspired by the flagship M8xTT, it effectively combines mass-loaded materials with a decoupled chassis and a premium tonearm design to make both a visual statement and a sonic impact. For added convenience, the M6xTT is supplied with a leather platter mat, a heavy aluminium record puck and a semi-balanced 5P > RCA interconnect cable inside the packaging. A clear acrylic dust cover is available separately.
