TP Vision will mark the inauguration of the multi-year Philips Audio Century celebration with the introduction of the Philips Retro Range of five audio products, each designed to celebrate the brand’s role as a true pioneer in the world of audio, and for over a century.

All five products from the Retro Range will be available from the beginning of October and each combines a modern interpretation  of an original Philips design, in combination with the performance and convenience of the very latest technology.

Philips Audio has been at the forefront of audio technology throughout its history, including making key innovations in the world of vinyl, plus the launch of the compact cassette, the introduction of the CD, more radio development with DAB and the launch of DVD and SACD.

Philips Audio was also one of the very first companies to offer consumers an internet connected, streaming hi-fi system.

So, while it’s almost impossible to celebrate all of the many influential audio developments that Philips Audio has made in the past 100 years, the new Retro Range focuses on key product areas including vinyl, streaming, radio and headphones.

The Tina

All-in-one integrated turntable solutions are one of the most popular segments of the vinyl playback market, appealing to both first time explorers

and returning original format fans and The Tina seeks to both set new performance standards while also introducing the confidence of buying from an established ‘A’ brand to the sector.

While debuting a unique heritage design, The Tina features a very modern specification combining a turntable, DAB+/FM tuner, USB audio and BT streaming all within a convenient, relatively compact body and with much effort being taken to ensure a high-quality sound performance that is both warm and detailed and that extends far into the listening room.

The Tina is the World’s most powerful all-in-one, integrated turntable hi-fi system, offering an impressive 120 Watts rms into a 2.1configuration featuring two 1” tweeters, two 2.5” mid-range drivers and a dedicated 4.5” bass reflex subwoofer.

Components are high quality with a two-speed precision belt-drive, solid aluminium diecast platter, extruded aluminium straight arm – with an adjustable counterweight – and a replaceable Audio Technica MM cartridge.

Much consideration has also been given to the design of the internal anti-vibration mechanism to protect the turntable from even the smallest external or internal vibration.

Alternative sources of music are the DAB+/FM tuner, USB Playback and RCA Aux audio-in.

The Philips Entertainment App allows The Tina to also stream music via BT 5.4 with Auracast and compatibility with both the SBC and LC3 codecs. The App also allows independent digital sound, treble and bass control.

The system can also be expanded for a wider sound stage by adding external BT speakers via the BT out facility. Music fans can also choose to listen via their favourite wired headphones using the full-size 6.3mm headphone socket.

Alternative audio options include streaming via Bluetooth 5.4, with compatibility for both the SBC and LC3 codecs, and audio-in for connection to mobile music players. Consumers can also listen with wired headphones via the 3.5mm connector.

The sound stage can also be expanded by adding external Bluetooth speakers via the Stevie’s BT out facility while an aux out option also allows easy system building.

The Stevie is also to set up via the Philips Entertainment App.

The Janet

The Janet wraps the latest audio technology in a classic 1950’s rounded design measuring 180mmX100mmX60mm (wxhxd) and making high-quality FM and DAB audio easily portable from room to room.

Despite its compact size, The Janet’s sound is warm, wide and clear thanks to a 5W rms power output and a relatively large 2.5” full-range driver.

Operation is easy thanks to a large control knob and touch sensitive buttons – including 20 FM and 20 DAB radio presets – plus a bright 2.4” colour TFT display.

Listeners can also stream from their mobile device using Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with compatibility for both SBC and AAC codecs.

The Janet can also be used as an alarm clock with a sleep timer and two alarms.

The internal battery is easily user replaceable and offers a generous 15-hour playback and can be fully recharged in 3.5 hours.

The Freddie

The Freddie is the latest member of a very popular club, as Philips Audio’s large format, open-back, wired headphones have always had and continue to have an impressive following of highly enthusiastic owners.

The open-back design confirms that The Freddie is designed for home use and in combination with the large 50mm neodymium drivers, the delivery is a hugely enjoyable, wide spacious and expansive sound.

The Freddie also focuses on durability and comfort. Quality materials are used throughout, with a strong steel head band with a double layered cushion. The ear cushion material is also breathable to ensure long listening sessions remain comfortable

For maximum convenience, The Freddie includes a 3.0M detachable connection cable.

The Ringo

The concept of truly portable, personal audio took-off in the 1980’s and much of the corresponding success can be claimed by this iconic lightweight and compact, on-ear headphone design.

Available in three colours – Deep Black, Crystal Teal and Silk White – The Ringo includes an easily adjustable headband and two sets of spare ear-cushions The Ringo takes the ’80s iconic headphone design and adds a modern twist including wireless connectivity.

The retro design hides a thoroughly modern specification including large 40mm drivers, wireless multipoint connectivity via Bluetooth 5.4 and up to 26-hours playback with a quick charge facility giving an extra six-hours in just 15 minutes.

Call reception is also crystal clear thanks to the inclusion of an AI mic and The Ringo is also compatible with the Philips Headphones app.
