T+A presents two new multi-source players in the iconic R Series: the MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3. In addition, a future-proof upgrade to the streaming clients of the predecessor MP 2000 R MK II and MP 2500 R available with the Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) G3. With this update, the multi-source players of the R Series, including the MP 2000 R MK II and MP 2500 R models, are now equipped with the newly developed Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) G3, which is the core of these new devices. This upgrade makes the R Series players ready for the future, providing state-of-the-art streaming services while retaining the renowned T+A sound quality.

“When the centrepiece of a product is newly developed, is that an upgrade or a new product? We believe the ASA G3 together with the many other small improvements make the MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3 so much better that they establish a new generation of the R series”, said T+A COO Conradin Amft at the launch of the new R Series multi-source players.

The ASA G3, the heart and technical highlight of the new R Series multi-source players, offers users access to a wide range of high-quality and convenient Connect services. These services enable direct music streaming from mobile devices to the T+A unit through services such as Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect or Apple AirPlay 2. The ASA G3 also integrates many high-resolution streaming services and allows native DSD streaming directly and without conversion via the streaming client.

Alongside the introduction of the ASA G3, T+A is also implementing a new naming convention: all multi-source devices equipped with ASA G3 will carry the G3 designation, making them easily recognizable as the latest devices in the R Series: MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3.

In addition to the advanced streaming architecture, the engineers in Herford have significantly enhanced signal processing by introducing a new motherboard. The signals from the CD drive (MP 2000 R G3) and SACD drive (MP 2500 R G3) are now utilised to provide enriched information, such as cover art in the Musicnavigator G3 app, through the Gracenote music service. These multi-source players are equipped with T+A’s separate and fully optimized True1-Bit DSD and Quadruple PCM digital-to-analogue converters for an even greater sound experience, alongside a powerful radio tuner that delivers the finest FM and DAB reception ever achieved by a T+A device.

While the new multi-source players will be available from September 2024, T+A also offers an upgrade option for their predecessors’ streaming clients, the MP 2000 R MK II and MP 2500 R, to the ASA G3 at the T+A facilities. This upgrade includes not only new hardware components for the streaming architecture, but also device-specific control software tailored to each model. Upgrade appointments can be arranged through authorized dealers or directly via local T+A representatives.

With the introduction of the ASA G3, T+A ensures that the multi-source players of the R Series will continue to lead the way in technological development for years to come, meeting the needs of modern music lovers worldwide. T+A’s Director of Development, Jörg Küpper, sees the model policy and upgrade closely aligned with the sustainability strategy set by the Amft family: “By renewing the devices in the R Series and offering upgrade options to the streaming client of existing products, we underscore our commitment to building devices that last for generations. Users receive an upgraded product experience with the latest technology without needing to purchase a new device.”
